In today's video, we're discussing an important update to the FutureRestore, an #iOS #Downgrade tool created by @tihmstar back in 2016 that works with saved SHSH2 blobs to downgrade or upgrade to specific iOS versions that are normally no longer signed but jailbroken or otherwise interesting for the user due to performance benefits and such. The tool has been updated by developer @s0uthwes to finally work with Face ID devices. For the longest time, in fact, since the iPhone X was introduced, this has been a major problem: using FutureRestore to downgrade or upgrade would result in broken Face ID which I'd guess nobody is very fond of. It's finally been fixed.
The issue has been present in FutureRestore for literally years now and to finally have it fixed, and tests being carried successfully on newer hardware like iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR, does mean big news for the iOS Jailbreak community and for those who may be interested in downgrading their devices.
For the moment, only macOS builds are available on the developer's GitHub, but Linux ones may come soon. The developer has, however, confirmed he will not be supporting Windows himself. Other people may compile windows builds as it has been the case for previous versions.
One should always save the SHSH2 blobs for the currently signed iOS versions as without these saved, FutureRestore will not help much. These blobs are generated by the Apple TSS server and therefore cannot be replicated or used from somebody else's stash. They are personalized to the device they are generated for.
