In today's video, we're discussing the latest news about SILEO, the true #Cydia Alternative from the #Electra Team that has been in the works since July 2018, back when Cydia was broken and unreliable. Just a few hours ago, Coolstar and the official Sileo account have announced that the #Sileo will be released as public beta very soon for the testers who may wanna try it. The public release will feature actual tweaks that can be installed from the default repo (Dynastic Repo) and upcoming support for other repos is planned.
At first, we should give credit where credit is due – this is the farthest a Cydia alternative has reached in development in the past years and Sileo seems to have some good points, a refreshing UI made around #iOS 12 / iOS 11 style, it is compatible with the latest DPKG and APT unlike Cydia, and it doesn't have the overhead of having to maintain compatibility with ancient iOS versions unlike Cydia, so I can see why it may appeal to some people.
According to Coolstar, the first public betas will be available for the Electra Jailbreak users as an optional install. If everything goes smoothly during the beta test, it will be followed by a release. Of course, for the existing jailbreaks for iOS 11.4 Beta 3 and lower all the way down to iOS 11.0. As far as I am aware iOS 10 will not be supported, and neither will iOS 9, 8 or lower. However, since it is built with future in mind, Sileo will take considerably less effort to port to iOS 11.4.x and iOS 12 once a jailbreak is out, which may not be the case for Cydia, tho I am sure Pwn20wnd and saurik have that under control. There is no word on whether Unc0ver Jailbreak will be supported for the moment.
