In today's video, we're going to talk about @UkernSoftware's #JailbreakMe Unified project which apparently aims to be a jailbreak framework for iOS 4 all the way up to iOS 12.0.1. In order for it to be compatible with iOS 12.0.1, Sem from @UkernSoftware takes advantage of Kudima's #iOS 12.x WebKit RCE exploit released a week or two ago. He's basically attempting to build a Safari-based jailbreak in the style of the original Jailbreak Me from back on iOS 3-4.
Naturally, I didn't want to cover this initially because @UkernSoftware although a talented programmer, never made a jailbreak before. With that being said, I wanted to cover it once the project was more advanced to see exactly the direction it heads towards, however, I got a lot of requests from viewers to cover it, especially since a few big iOS news websites have covered it and created hype around it.
Now, the project appears to be legitimate and Sem uses real exploits released by various security researchers. He seems to have the situation under control for now, but since he is inexperienced in jailbreak development, I wouldn't get very hyped about this project. It's still a good start especially since it seems to be the first project to take advantage of the plethora of vulnerabilities released for iOS 11.4.1 and iOS 12 in the past weeks, but there is definitely a lot of work to be done before you will install Cydia with this #Jailbreak. I hope this video clarifies the situation and explains what is currently going on.
