In today's video, we're discussing the latest jailbreak news about iOS 11.4.1, iOS 11.4 and iOS 12, we're discussing the release of iOS 12.1 Beta 2 and whether you should update to it or not, and a new Anemone theming platform alternative called Snowboard which aims to replace Winterboard and #Anemone and do it without the battery drain or slowness which is very well known to plague the Anemone.
With iOS 12.1 Beta 2's release, we're getting closer to the moment when iOS 11.4.1 will stop being signed and therefore making downgrades impossible. My advice is to stay on iOS 11.4.1 for the moment because iOS 12's CoreTrust has been reworked to no longer allow fake-signed binaries we usually need on jailbreaks, this means that we can no longer easily debilitate AMFI. iOS 11.4.1 doesn't have these changes so once Ian Beer releases his kernel exploit, updating jailbreaks like Electra, Osiris and so on to work on iOS 11.4.1 should be quite trivial. #iOS 12 is a bit complicated, even tho Pangu managed to #Jailbreak successfully and even untethered.
In this video, we also talk about Corellium which is a virtual iOS device system where you can pretty much build your own virtual iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch on any version between iOS 10.0 to iOS 12 and have any version jailbroken. This helps a lot in the process of vulnerability research because you're able to run whatever tools you want to probe the system – something you wouldn't be able to do on stock iOS devices. Min Spark Zheng, a security researcher in our community has recently posted a write-up about the Corellium, this is definitely a game changer for jailbreak development.
