A new iBoot exploit has been released a couple days ago by Joshua Hill, and the reason I did not make a video about back then, was that the exploit itself is for a quite old device / firmware, but since everybody asks me about it and what it can be used for, here's what you need to know.
Since it is an iBoot exploit, it is not something you see daily. iBoot exploits are released only once in a while, in fact, the last release has taken place years ago. The reason for this is the fact that Apple can patch iBoot exploits in software updates, compared to BootROM ones that can't be patched without a new hardware revision.
The exploit Joshua has released is not "new" in terms of "it works for newer firmware", it is in fact quite old, as it has been tested on iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1, it is "new" in terms of "never released before". Although quite old, the #exploit is very well documented, as alongside with it, Joshua has also released a presentation about finding and exploiting iBoot vulnerabilities. The presentation is from a #BlackHat and is quite old indeed, but still very useful.
With all these said, to clear out the confusion, this exploit, although very well documented, cannot be used on modern iOS versions / devices, and therefore it can't be used for Jailbreaks or CFW iCloud Bypass. It is still a nice release that only happens once in a few years, and can really help as it is very well documented.
