In today's video, we're going to discuss a possible #untethered jailbreak for the #iOS 12.0 up to iOS 12.1.2. A developer on Twitter (@itsmechriswho ) has announced that he is attempting to build one for the Unc0ver #Jailbreak. Of course, I am skeptical, especially since I haven't seen any contributions to the jailbreak community from this person, but after I got in a discussion on Twitter, many of you told me I should give him the benefit of the doubt because there is one thing he can use for his alleged untether, a vulnerability that has been released and has persistence.
See, normally I would dismiss such untether claims as false right away without solid proof, and that is exactly what I did on Twitter a few days ago. At that time, I wasn't aware of that person and what he does, but I kept getting mentioned in his replies by curious people asking me whether it's real or not. I've, of course, treated the matters with skepticism because an untether for a jailbreak on iOS 12 is not an easy task. However, many of you told me I should give him the benefit of the doubt because he is using a known vulnerability that can, in theory, be used for an untether.
Now, this video is just for information purposes. At this time I wasn't able to verify whether he can build an untether or whether his method is doable. He hasn't provided a ton of information about what he's trying to do to achieve the untether, but he did confirm he's taking advantage of a boot-time daemon using the known persistent vulnerability described by ZecOps a few days ago. Anyways, until more info is available I'd treat his project with skepticism.
