In today's video, we're discussing the latest iOS 12 Jailbreak news coming from developer Pwn20wnd and Sam Bingner. Sam has posted just a few hours ago a short clip on twitter in which he shows Cydia running perfectly fine on iOS 12 on what appears to be an iPhone X. He proceeds to install a tool of his through Cydia (likely from his repo) and the procedure works as expected. According to Sam, Cydia is working, he's got a shell and the Cydia Substrate is partially working. Definitely not there yet, but huge progress for the Jailbreak community. Saurik, the creator of Cydia has been actively helping the Unc0ver Jailbreak team to get things working for iOS 12. He has updated the Cydia Substrate which is closed-source and though more fixes are needed, we're closer than ever to the full jailbreak on iOS 12 everybody is waiting.
The #Cydia Substrate is a very important component of the Jailbreak. It powers the tweaks. Without a form of substrate that does the injection, tweaks would not be able to load and carry their modifications to the stock iOS. So having a fully working substrate is not only important it is necessary. Past jailbreaks have used Substitute instead of Substrate, but since saurik has started working with the #Unc0ver team a few months ago, we've switched back to using the tried and true Cydia Substrate following saurik's updates.
