In today's video, we're discussing the #Sileo project which is going to soon replace Cydia on iOS 11.x up to iOS 11.3.1 and become the new standard for the future #iOS 11.4.x Jailbreaks. The project initiated by Coolstar and the #Electra Team is pretty much a new package manager, just like #Cydia, based on APT, but built with 2018 technology in mind. It is faster, loader quicker installs tweaks easier and is prone to fewer crashes and compatibility issues.
Cydia hasn't been officially updated since iOS 11.0 came out and now that saurik gave no sign of interest to keep Cydia updated, it is, unfortunately, the time to seek an alternative. Sileo has very recently been started as a new project and just a few hours ago Coolstar has confirmed the successful installation of packages through the early version of Sileo.
Amonsgt the important news we also have some info about the way packages will be displayed. Sileo will take advantage of another project of Coolstar and that is Repo Unclutter. This pretty much means that Sileo will only show the tweaks that work with iOS 11. Currently, Cydia shows all the tweaks that were ever published if you add the repo with no compatibility filters by default. This increases the risk of incompatibility-related issues and even boot loops. It has happened in the past, people did lose their jailbreaks due to incompatible tweaks installed.
Sileo will also block no repo. This means that the user has the freedom to add whatever repo they desire as long as it is compatible. The Cydia repos and tweaks will continue to work with Sileo.
