Today I have pretty sad news for the jailbreak community on iOS 14, iOS 14.0.1, and iOS 13.7 and the most recent versions, as one of the biggest iOS exploit developers who used to release a lot of great jailbreak components that were used in Unc0ver, Chimera, and other such jailbreak during the years is departing the community. This is a very bad day for the iOS Jailbreak community and we’ll have consequences in the form of longer waiting times for new jailbreaks.
Brandon Azad has announced a few hours ago his departure from Google Project Zero, and thus from any public exploit releases for iOS / Apple devices, as they are joining Apple next week to work on the security of Apple’s devices. This is very good news for Brandon and we’re very happy for their achievement, but it’s bittersweet happiness because Apple now has the advantage of having one of the best security researchers that used to help our community. A lot will change. iOS Security will improve in the coming months thanks to Brandon and this will make our life much harder. Do not update to iOS 14 and be prepared.
Congratulations to Brandon Azad for getting the job though. That’s NOT an easy feat to achieve and I am happy for them. They are extremely skilled and deserved it by far.
