In today’s video, we’re discussing a release of an updated version of Jake James’ #RootlessJB #Jailbreak, this time for #iOS 12.4. The jailbreak was updated by Brandon Plank to support iOS 12.4 on A7 to A11 devices, by integrating Jake James’ kernel exploit (sock_port) for iOS 12.4. No idea why Jake did not do it himself, but it’s a great release/update nonetheless. The RootlessJB is a lightweight jailbreak compared to Unc0ver or Chimera and is meant to provide the bare minimum to be able to run Filza File Manager, SSH, and Tweaks. Most applications that have jailbreak detection in place to prevent jailbroken devices from using the app would not detect RootlessJB due to its lightweight components.
Of course, you can install tweaks on RootlessJB, but there is no Cydia. While one can install a package manager, tweaks on RootlessJB are usually manually installed through Filza or SSH. It’s a jailbreak more geared towards the power user rather than a 1-click jailbreak for the masses, but it serves a good purpose. Unjailbreaking happens in a flick of a switch, and there should, according to Jake James, be no data loss, so it’s really easy to go from completely jailbroken to completely unjailbroken if an app does happen to block you because you’re jailbroken.
