In today's video, we're discussing some interesting news in the world of jailbreaking. Coolstar has announced the fact that Electra's patches may be working with #iOS 11.2 and iOS 11.2.x, however, a new kernel exploit will be required. Currently, there is no kernel exploit available publicly that supports iOS 11.2 and iOS 11.2.x, but Pandora Labs, a sub-division of Alibaba has demonstrated a jailbreak for iOS 11.2 and iOS 11.2.1 back in December. Since one can't simply jailbreak without a kernel exploit, I assume they've found a powerful kernel vulnerability that they've exploited in a way.
Currently, nothing is known from the technical standpoint about their jailbreak, the kernel exploit, or how they pieced it together, however, since the vulnerability is clearly there. Of course, Pandora's Jailbreak is odd, to say the least. For one, they are installing Cydia. Although Cydia is never opened in their demos, it is still rather bizarre. Cydia won't be working on iOS 11.2 or iOS 11.2.x until Saurik updates it, the same thing goes for the substrate. The two are not updated to this date, so they clearly haven't been updated back in December. However, many other jailbreakers have used exploits like v0rtex and async_wake to create a partial iOS 11.x Jailbreak for iOS 11.1.2 and lower, which, as far as I am concerned never had a working Cydia build, yet Cydia was always installed just for the sake of it. It might be the same case for Pandora Labs.
Although I am still skeptical about their Jailbreak, mostly because of the fact that they didn't have a write-up, nor any releases or details, 3UTools wrote the article about Pandora's jailbreak, and 3Utools is a well-established company that I incline to think won't tarnish their own name for a fake jailbreak.
In other news, Electra for iOS 11.0 up to 11.1.2 has received the 6th Beta which fixes quite a lot of stuff, so if you're currently using Beta 5 or older, please consider upgrading.
